Jim Howe

Board Member

Jim Howe is the Owner and Principal of Howe Consulting. Through his current work, Jim assists clients across the education and workforce sectors in unlocking opportunity for all learners. He translates complex challenges into actionable strategies, invests in deeply listening to diverse groups of students, and designs output-focused workshops and events.

Jim anchors his practice in a decade of strategy consulting experience through his prior roles at the Boston Consulting Group. In his most recent role as a Project Leader at BCG, he led teams supporting clients ranging from philanthropic foundations, education-focused nonprofits, EdTech companies, and city and state governments. He served as a member of BCG’s Education, Employment, and Welfare Leadership Team, assisting with the development of BCG’s go-to-market strategy within the sector and advising on future priority topics for clients. While at BCG, Jim additionally developed deep expertise within the Principal Investors & Private Equity (PIPE), Technology, Retail, and Economic Development Practices.

Jim received his MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business and his M.Ed. from the University of Virginia’s School of Education and Human Development. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Rice University. He lives in Kansas City, MO, with his wife Ericka, and spends time playing tennis, rock climbing, and walking the neighborhood with his miniature poodle, Abe.
