Anadarko, OK – Start your day supporting youth in the Anadarko Public Schools when you participate in the SparkWheel 5K Fun Run or 1-Mile Walk as part of the Caddo County Kids, Kites & Fright event on October 21 at Anadarko High School.
The 5K Fun Run begins at 8:00 a.m., followed by the 1-Mile Walk. The registration fee for the 5K Fun Run is $35. There is no fee to register for the 1-Mile Walk. Instead, SparkWheel is collecting donations of basic needs items, hygiene products, or kids' Halloween costumes. This year's event is titled "Be a Superhero to Our Kids," and runners and walkers are encouraged to participate in costume during their race. Prizes will be awarded to the top race finishers and those with the best costumes. The 5K Fun Run and 1-Mile Walk routes will start at Anadarko High School (AHS) and weave through residential neighborhoods before returning to AHS.
"We are excited to kick off the Caddo County Kids, Kites & Fright day in Anadarko with our activity," said Christine Armstrong, SparkWheel Program Director. "The Anadarko community has been so generous. We wanted this event to provide an opportunity for people to be physically active and donate some much-needed items for the students and families we serve in the Anadarko Public Schools."
Course Sponsorships are available for $150. The donations and sponsorships collected as part of the 5K Fun Run and 1-Mile Walk will be used by SparkWheel Student Support Coordinators as part of the programming and services provided at Anadarko's Sunset, Mission, and East Elementary Schools as well as the Middle School and High School.
