Noah and Natalie Get the Help they Need

Halfway through the school year, Noah* and Natalie* were placed with a family member due to instability in their home. While the family member was happy to take in the siblings, she was worried about providing for them since she was out of work at the time.

The SparkWheel Student Support Coordinator helped the family member apply for assistance to help cover food and other expenses. While waiting for the applications to be processed and approved, the Student Support Coordinator ensured Noah and Natalie had everything they needed during this transition. The siblings received new backpacks, socks, underwear, and some extra clothes. The Student Support Coordinator also gave Noah and Natalie bags with brand new toiletries, including toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and more. The new guardian received a week’s worth of food from the school’s food pantry and a distribution schedule for the local food banks. The Student Support Coordinator also connected the family member with a case manager at the job resource center, who helped the family member find new employment aligned with the kids’ school schedule. It was hard for Noah and Natalie to move so abruptly in the middle of the school year, but they were happy to be in a safe, loving home.
