Southeast Kansas – SparkWheel is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded a $1,500 grant from the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas (CFSEK) - General Fund. This grant, benefiting schools in Chanute, Fort Scott, Parsons, Pittsburg, and Uniontown, will be utilized for program materials and essential services.
The CFSEK Grant Review Committee, known for its commitment to funding programs focusing on Basic Human Needs, Youth Activities, and Arts & Culture, selects recipients each summer. Established in 2004, the CFSEK manages individual charitable funds created by donors passionate about giving back to their community. Through these funds, the Foundation supports initiatives that benefit individuals throughout Southeast Kansas and beyond.
Since its inception, CFSEK-managed funds have provided hundreds of thousands of dollars to numerous Southeast Kansas nonprofit projects. General funds grant applications are typically available during June. In 2023, CFSEK granted a total of $160,000 to 48-area nonprofits.
SparkWheel has served communities in Pittsburg and Parsons since 2013, Chanute since 2014, Fort Scott since 2018, and Uniontown since 2021. This grant will enable SparkWheel to continue providing essential program materials and services to students and families in these communities, furthering its mission of supporting academic success and overall well-being.
